Syllabus


Trade Theory

  1. Introduction to Fitter Trade

    • Trade safety rules and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

    • Identification of tools and measuring instruments

    • Scope and role of a fitter in industries

  2. Measurement and Marking Tools

    • Steel rule, caliper, divider, scriber, surface plate

    • Vernier caliper, micrometer, and height gauge

    • Marking media and techniques

  3. Fitting Tools and Operations

    • Hack sawing, chiseling, filing, drilling

    • Types of files and their applications

    • Types of hammers, punches, and screwdrivers

  4. Fitting and Assembly

    • Making male and female joints

    • Dovetail fitting, square fitting, and "V" fitting

    • Interchangeability, limits, and fits (basic intro)

  5. Threads and Fasteners

    • Types of threads (metric, BSW, ACME)

    • Use of taps, dies, and thread cutting

    • Bolts, nuts, washers, locking devices


Trade Practical

  1. Use of marking tools on flat surfaces

  2. Cutting practice with hacksaw on different sections

  3. Filing flat surfaces within ±0.2 mm accuracy

  4. Drilling and reaming operations

  5. Chipping and making various fitting joints (square, V, dovetail)

  6. Threading with dies and internal threads with taps

  7. Assembly of simple mechanical components using fasteners


Workshop Calculation & Science

  • Units and measurements (SI system)

  • Calculation of perimeter, area, volume

  • Basic arithmetic operations and geometry

  • Simple machine principles: leverage, gear ratios


Engineering Drawing

  • Freehand sketching of tools and fasteners

  • Reading simple machine component drawings

  • Isometric views and orthographic projections

  • Dimensioning and symbols
