Trade Theory

  1. Introduction to Electrician Trade

    • Scope, job role, and safety precautions

    • Familiarization with tools, PPE, and workshop layout

  2. Basic Electricity

    • Electrical terms: Current, Voltage, Resistance, Power, Energy

    • Ohm’s Law, Kirchhoff’s Law

    • Series, parallel, and mixed circuits

  3. Magnetism and Electromagnetism

    • Magnetic materials and fields

    • Electromagnetic induction

    • Applications: Relays, solenoids, bells

  4. Electrical Measuring Instruments

    • Multimeter, Ammeter, Voltmeter, Wattmeter

    • Use and maintenance of measuring tools

  5. Electrical Wiring

    • Types of wires and cables

    • Wiring systems: Cleat, casing, conduit

    • Wiring accessories: Switches, plugs, sockets, holders

  6. Earthing and Grounding

    • Importance and methods of earthing

    • Plate, pipe, and rod earthing systems

    • Testing of earthing resistance


Trade Practical

  1. Identification and use of electrical hand tools

  2. Preparation of wire joints (twist, married, tee, western union)

  3. Domestic wiring practice: One lamp, two-way switch, fan

  4. Testing electrical equipment using test lamps and multimeters

  5. Earthing installation and measurement

  6. Simple wiring project setups (house wiring board, switchboard)
