Eligibility Criteria 

Academic Qualifications:

  • Must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary or equivalent) from a recognized board.

  • Students from any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce) are eligible.

Age Limit:

  • Minimum age: 16 years.

  • No upper age limit

Semester 1:

  1. Introduction to Fashion Design

    • History and evolution of fashion

    • Role of a fashion designer

    • Fashion terminology

  2. Elements of Design

    • Line, shape, color, texture, space

    • Principles of design (balance, contrast, harmony, etc.)

  3. Textile Science – I

    • Introduction to fibers and fabrics

    • Natural and man-made fibers

    • Yarn formation

  4. Fashion Illustration – I

    • Drawing human figures (8-head and 10-head croquis)

    • Poses and draping

    • Sketching garments

  5. Basic Pattern Making & Garment Construction – I

    • Tools and equipment

    • Pattern drafting (basic bodice, skirt, sleeve)

    • Sewing techniques and seams

  6. Computer Fundamentals (Optional/Institute Specific)

    • Basic computer skills

    • Use of design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator basics)


Semester 2:

  1. Fashion Studies & Trends

    • Fashion cycles and forecasting

    • Market trends and influences

    • Global fashion centers

  2. Textile Science – II

    • Fabric construction (weaving, knitting, finishes)

    • Fabric identification and testing

  3. Fashion Illustration – II

    • Color rendering techniques

    • Accessories and fashion flats

    • Portfolio development

  4. Pattern Making & Garment Construction – II

    • Advanced bodice, dart manipulation

    • Construction of tops, blouses, and simple dresses

  5. Surface Ornamentation

    • Embroidery techniques

    • Printing (block, screen, digital)

    • Fabric painting
