Fashion Designing Course – Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • Minimum: 10th Pass

  • Preferred: 12th Pass 

  • Graduates from any stream can also apply for degree-level fashion programs

2. Age Limit

  • Minimum: 16 years

  • No upper age limit

3. Preferred Skills

  • Creativity and interest in clothing and design

  • Drawing or sketching ability 

  • Basic communication skills and fashion awareness


Syllabus for Fashion Designing Course

A. Core Subjects

1. Introduction to Fashion Design

  • History of fashion

  • Understanding trends and fashion cycles

  • Types of fashion (Haute Couture, Pret-a-Porter, etc.)

2. Textile Science

  • Types of fabrics: natural, synthetic, blended

  • Fabric construction, textures, and finishes

  • Fiber properties and selection for garments

3. Elements & Principles of Design

  • Color theory, harmony, and contrast

  • Silhouettes, balance, emphasis, rhythm

  • Line, form, texture, and space in clothing

4. Fashion Illustration & Drawing

  • Figure drawing (croquis)

  • Garment rendering (tops, dresses, skirts, etc.)

  • Digital fashion illustration (optional in advanced courses)

5. Pattern Making and Drafting

  • Measurements and body types

  • Flat pattern drafting (basic bodice, sleeve, skirt, etc.)

  • Draping techniques (for advanced level)

6. Garment Construction

  • Sewing machine operation and maintenance

  • Seams, darts, pleats, zippers, necklines

  • Finishing, hemming, and fitting techniques


B. Practical Skills & Add-Ons

  • Designing seasonal collections (casual, formal, ethnic, bridal)

  • Accessory design basics (bags, belts, jewelry concepts)

  • Portfolio development

  • Fashion show coordination/project work
