    • Minimum Age: 14–15 years

Syllabus 

1. Trade Theory

  • Introduction to Civil Draughtsmanship:

    • Role and duties of a civil draughtsman

    • Different types of drawings in civil engineering

  • Drawing Instruments & Materials:

    • Use and maintenance of T-squares, set squares, scales, compasses, etc.

    • Drawing sheet sizes and layout

  • Building Materials:

    • Bricks, cement, sand, concrete, steel, timber, etc.

    • Properties and uses of construction materials

  • Basic Surveying:

    • Chain surveying

    • Compass surveying

    • Leveling (basic concepts)

  • Building Construction (Part 1):

    • Types of foundations, walls, floors, roofs

    • Brickwork and stone masonry

    • Doors, windows, and lintels

  • Introduction to Estimating:

    • Units of measurement

    • Simple quantity calculations

2. Trade Practical

  • Freehand sketching of building components

  • Drawing symbols, line types, and lettering

  • Layout drawing of residential buildings (plan, elevation, section)

  • Drawing footing, brick bonds, walls, doors, and windows

  • Practice on simple survey using chain and tape

  • Introduction to Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD basics)

3. Workshop Science and Calculation

  • Units and conversions

  • Area and volume calculations

  • Percentages, averages, and practical geometry

4. Engineering Drawing (Theory)

  • Geometrical construction

  • Orthographic projections

  • Isometric drawings

  • Sectional views and dimensioning
