    • Successful completion of 1st Year of the Draughtsman Mechanical course from a recognized institution 


Syllabus

1. Trade Theory

  • Machine Drawing & Assembly:

    • Assembly and exploded views

    • Preparation of working drawings from rough sketches

    • Interpretation of production drawings

  • CAD (Computer-Aided Drafting):

    • 2D and basic 3D CAD commands

    • Creating machine components and assemblies using software like AutoCAD

    • Plotting and printing

  • Detailed Study of Mechanical Components:

    • Bearings, gears, cams, levers, shafts, pulleys

    • Machine tools (lathe, milling, drilling – component drawings)

  • Welding and Sheet Metal Drawing:

    • Representation of welding symbols

    • Sheet metal developments

    • Riveted joints

  • Tool and Jig Drawing:

    • Fixtures, jigs, templates, gauges

  • Material Handling & Safety Symbols:

    • Drawings of cranes, hoists, conveyors

    • Industrial safety standards and symbols

  • Production and Manufacturing Processes:

    • Basic concepts of CNC machines

    • Manufacturing tolerances and surface finish

2. Trade Practical

  • Drawing detailed parts and assembly of mechanical systems

  • Advanced dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Preparation of sectional and exploded views

  • CAD: Creating and modifying 2D drawings, introduction to 3D modeling

  • Design and drawing of machine assemblies (e.g., gearboxes, valves, pumps)

  • Surface finish and welding representation practice

3. Workshop Science and Calculation

  • Advanced geometry and trigonometry

  • Tolerances and fits calculation

  • Gear ratios and simple machine design math

  • Strength of materials (basic level)

4. Engineering Drawing (Theory Class)

  • Limits, fits & tolerances application in production drawings

  • Advanced isometric and perspective drawings

  • Schematic representation of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
