Syllabus 

Module 1: Introduction to Stenography

  • Definition, history, and importance of stenography

  • Role of a stenographer in various sectors

  • Career opportunities in government and private organizations

Module 2: English/Hindi Typing

  • Keyboard layout (QWERTY/Inscript)

  • Typing techniques and accuracy improvement

  • Speed-building exercises

  • Typing practice using typing tutor software

Module 3: Shorthand Theory (English/Hindi)

  • Introduction to shorthand systems (e.g., Pitman for English, Hindi Stenography rules)

  • Consonants, vowels, punctuation marks, and joining rules

  • Word signs, phrases, and contractions

  • Position writing and grammalogues

  • Speed dictation and note-taking techniques

Module 4: Shorthand Practice

  • Progressive shorthand dictation exercises (starting from 40 wpm to 100 wpm)

  • Transcription from shorthand notes to readable format

  • Practice of legal, official, and business dictations

  • Regular speed tests and accuracy improvement

Module 5: Office Procedures & Documentation

  • Drafting letters, memos, and official documents

  • Handling files and maintaining records

  • Email, fax, and basic computer operations

  • Office correspondence and file management

Module 6: Computer Fundamentals (Basic IT Skills)

  • Basics of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
