Eligibility

  • Age: Minimum 17 years

  • Education: Passed 12th grade (10+2) with Science stream (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)

  • Successfully completed 1st Year of the Medical Laboratory Technology course

 

 

Syllabus


1. Microbiology (Advanced)

  • Detailed study of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites

  • Culture techniques (aerobic/anaerobic)

  • Antibiotic sensitivity testing (AST)

  • Use of incubators, autoclaves, laminar airflow

  • Identification of infectious organisms


2. Histopathology & Cytology

  • Collection and processing of tissue samples

  • Microtomy and staining (H&E stain, special stains)

  • Introduction to biopsy and FNAC procedures

  • Basics of cancer detection via cytology (Pap smear, etc.)


3. Clinical Biochemistry (Advanced)

  • Hormone tests (Thyroid, Insulin, etc.)

  • Liver Function Test (LFT)

  • Kidney Function Test (KFT)

  • Lipid profile, cardiac markers

  • Use of auto-analyzer and advanced lab instruments


4. Immunology & Serology

  • Blood grouping (ABO, Rh) and cross-matching

  • ELISA testing

  • Widal, VDRL, HBsAg, HIV, Dengue, Malaria tests

  • Handling samples for infectious disease testing


5. Blood Banking & Transfusion Science

  • Donor selection and blood collection procedures

  • Blood bag storage and handling

  • Compatibility testing and transfusion safety

  • Hemolytic reactions and prevention


6. Practical Training

  • Performing complete lab tests independently

  • Handling advanced instruments: autoanalyzer, ELISA reader

  • Preparing reports and ensuring quality control

  • Real-time lab work in hospital or diagnostic lab setup


7. Professional Practice & Lab Management

  • Lab record keeping and report formats

  • Quality control and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Ethical handling of patient data and samples

  • Medical waste disposal and biosafety
